[On the new phone Steven has gotten, a picture will arrive of a certain floral mantis Pokémon. (Also a little of a wooden thumb.) Joker wasn't able to send it immediately, because the Carnival doesn't have cell phone reception, but he's done his best as soon as possible.]

But oh... yeah. He's spent a lot of time tormenting the park areas, so that might make things more difficult. Though it makes him sad to think of it in those terms.]

The boardwalk? I will fly down.

[And he will! With a bug bundled up in his cloak, held in his one good arm, and Feathers covering the skies. He doesn't think Steven would make this any kind of trap... but you never know. And there are still the others to worry about.]

[Steven is sitting on the boardwalk, waiting by himself, when Joker finally arrives. It's a bit strange to see after previous events - there's no sign of his Harbinger nature on the outside. Instead, he just looks like himself, how he was in the carnival.

He stands up as soon as he sees Joker approach, as if he's wary that it will be some sort of trap as well. His arms are still folded around his body nervously.]

[At least they're both nervous, then. As Feathers lands on a nearby light fixture, cooing, Joker brightens up at the sight of Steven, bends over a little to shift the material of the cloak...]

[And reveals a tiny little flower bug head.]

Ta da~.

[Bud has been super anxious about getting to see Steven since the moment that Joker mentioned the possibility, so the moment the cloak is opened, she is squeeing with urgent need and scrambling to jump into Steven's arms. He's quick to accept her, catching her and snuggling her close to his chest with a look of pure relief on his face.]

Bud! My buddy...

[He laughs, and then sniffles, overcome with his happiness at this reunion. Bud continues to chirp and creek, and if regaling Steven with everything that's happened since he'd left, but of course... Pokemon language is a mystery.]

It's okay, I'm here.

[It's not a happy ending, considering the story still has a long way to go, but it's at least a spot of brightness in an otherwise miserable tale. Joker chuckles as he watches it, letting his cloak flutter back into place and resting his hand on his hip.]

Told ya, didn't I?

[After cooing over Bud a bit more, Steven will finally turn his attention to Joker, smiling brightly.]

[Bud squeaks something vaguely affirming, too.]
